MOVING!!!!

Well after much discussion Darren and I have decided to move! Don't get me wrong I LOVE my house but I have never been crazy about the location and with interest rates down right now the time is right! A couple of weeks ago we signed the contract on the new house and put our house up for sale. Now we are keeping our fingers crossed that our house sells! I am so nervous/excited about this new adventure in our lives. I continue to pray that we are making the right choices and that God is leading us in the right direction. I have never bought/sold a house before so this is all new territory for me and slightly overwhelming! Keep your fingers crossed for us that everything goes smoothly!

Here is a picture of our lot :)

This is what the house is going to look like. Don't mind the rock to the right...Darren used a "paint" tool to show me what it would look like. I LOVE IT :)

Bad at Blogging

Ok...so I am sure most of you have written this blog off but I am going to try to be better. Sometimes I just feel like I have the same old routine and there isn't much to blog about. So I am not going to try and play catch up...I mean I haven't blogged since October...that would be a lot to catch up on! So we will just start now :) You will never believe it...remember that post I did back in August about running...we guess what...I AM STILL DOING IT! Woohoo! I have been training for the Oklahoma City Memorial 1/2 marathon and it is going well...or it was until my ankle decided to go out of commission on me. I have got my long runs up to 6 miles! The sad thing is after that I could hardly walk. I haven't ran in a week and it is killing me. But it still hurts to walk so I know I need to rest so I can get back to training. Who would have though I would actually CRAVE running?! It is so frustrating to be hurt and not be able to do what you want to :( I am hoping to be well enough to run the Red Bud 10K on April 9th...it will be a good way to start off my 25th year of life :) That is all I have for now. I will try to get on this week and post about our NEW HOUSE! Stay tuned!

OU/TX

I work at this wonderful place called SandRidge Energy. Love it! One the perks of working at a large company is that they give away tickets to EVERYTHING. Musicals, basketball games, concerts, you name it. Every time there is a give away I always enter my name in the drawing...NOTHING. I never win ANYTHING! Well when the email came out that they were giving away 2 sets of OU/TX tickets AND $250 I entered as usual. Much to my surprise I got a call on Thursday morning say I had won! WHAT?!?! I was shocked! I honestly forgot I even entered that drawing! Of course I called Darren right away and he didn't answer for an hour! GRRRR! Well I called my sister-in-law, Marnie, and asked her if she minded if we stayed with her for the weekend. Poor girl, she had a FULL HOUSE and of course still let us stay with her. Love my sister-in-law :)
Darren and I both left work at 3:00 on Friday to go home and pack and get ready. We made it on the road at about 5:45. Much to our surprise there was NO traffic on the way down there. I guess everyone else left that morning. We got in at 9:00 and we had made 2 stops! Crazy!
Saturday morning we all got up and headed to the fair. This was like nothing I have ever experienced before. I have been down to Dallas for OU/TX but have never been into the fair or the game. It made all the difference in the world! I am not usually a fan of the OU/TX scene but this year we had so much fun! I am so glad we decided to go! Here are some pictures from our wonderful day!

Getting ready to catch the Tram.

He clearly refused to cooperate.
Pretty Katie :)

Handy Man

I have posted this on facebook but haven't had a chance to blog about it yet. Lately Darren and I have been talking a lot about moving. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my house, but would really like to be in a different area. Along with the talk of moving comes the house search. This is painful. It is so hard to look at all these beautiful new homes because it makes you want to make changes to your own home. One of the things I love most about all the new houses being built are the beautiful shutters. I am obsessed with them. Every time we see houses with shutters I just stare at them so enviously. One day I rolled home and noticed that our next door neighbor magically got shutters on his front window...where did those come from?!?!? This made my obsession triple! If he can have shutters, why can't I? Darren made the mistake of telling me that our neighbor made his shutters himself! What?!?! Well, if you guys know me, you know that I got the idea in my head that Darren was going to make me shutters and I wasn't going to stop whining about it until I got them :) Much to my surprise I didn't have to whine too much at all. When I told him I really wanted him to make them for me he said he would do it that weekend!!! This almost NEVER happens. I usually have to be EXTREMELY persistent with him.

That weekend we dragged our happy butts out of bead and headed off to gather our materials. First things first, we had to decide what color we wanted to paint/stain them. So we drove around in one of the newer additions in our area and looked at all the shutters. Luckily, Darren and I have very similar taste so we both agreed on one we loved very quickly. Off to Lowes we went. I hate Lowes...HATE IT! I never know what I am supposed to be getting and it just doesn't seem like a place for a lady...but I was determined to get these shutters built! I followed Darren around the store like a lost puppy while he gathered up everything we needed. Oh, I forgot to mention how lucky we are to have such a handy brother-in-law who had all the tools we needed to get the job done. THANKS CHADDIE!

Right when we got home Darren laid all his stuff out and got to work. I was SHOCKED at how easy this project was. It only took him about 2 hours to build these! Of course I stayed outside with him to cheer him on (micromanage)! When he got the all together I helped him slosh the stain on...so easy...no technique needed. And presto! My beautiful shutters were complete! We let the stain dry overnight and my dad headed over the next morning to help us hang them. Hanging is always the hardest part but they had a pretty good approach!

Here is the finished product :)

I sure am lucky to have a sweet husband to do all the crazy projects I dream up for him to do! Although I usually have to work a little harder to get him to do them, they always get done :)

Running Update

Wow...so I dropped the running bomb on you quiet a while ago and then just left you hanging! Let me give you all a little update as to where I am at. Yes, I am still running! Woo hoo! For me this is a MIRACLE! I have actually started lifting weights with the SandRidge trainer 2 days a week as well. I am loving the feeling of lifting and being sore...but I think it is taking a tole on my running. I was running every day so it was getting a lot easier. Now I am running every other day and it is making it a little more difficult. It will all come together soon...I just have to be patient! Right now I am running 4 minutes walking 1 minute (sometimes I have to walk 2!) and going for 3 miles. I am at about a 35 minute pace so I need to shave some time off! One thing that I think is going to be difficult for me is getting used to running outside. Right now I do everything on the treadmill. It is so much harder to run outside! Ugh! Well, I better get used to it because on October 9th I am running the Race for the Cure 5k! Who am I?! I remember when I used to have to go to this thing with Pi Phi and right when the race would start I would sneak off and go back to my car to go home!!!! Sad but true! Well I guess this time I am going to try to make up for all those runs I missed!

I have to give a shout out to my friend Kelly again! She just ran her 2nd half marathon and is about to run another in October. She is amazing and is definitely my inspiration! She loves to tell everyone that she couldn't even run a mile when she started! Look at her now! I love you Kelly!

The weather is starting to get nicer and running outside will be much better! Get off the couch and go for a run...you might just get inspired :)

Shayne Mackey Selmon

I am an Aunt again! Ok so maybe not a blood aunt, but the bonds of Pi Phi sisterhood are just as strong right? One of my best friends Rachel had her baby girl on September 21, 2010 at 1:45 p.m. She weighed in at 6 pounds 5 ounces and was 19.5 inches long. She was tiny, pink, perfection! As you all know I have 5 neices and nephews, so I have done the whole baby/hospital visit thing a few times. It is completely different when you go and see one of your friends. I honeslty can't describe it. Maybe it was a feeling of "oh, wow, this will be me some day soon!" but it was completely surreal. I was SOOOOOOOO proud of her. Of course, in true Rachel fashion, not one complaint came out of her mouth. She was pretty much the bubblies post birth woman I have ever seen. Hearing her side of the story was quiet refreshing...of course she told us all "it wasn't that bad." Maybe she is just trying to not scare us so we will all hurry up and give Shayne some friends! Haha! I love Rachel so much and now I love baby Shayne even more. Congratulations Rachel and Zac!
Beautiful Baby Girl

Shayne and her Aunt T (I look freakish in this picture but no one should be looking at me!)
This picture is really blurry (thanks Darren!) but we are definitely haloing Rachel and Shayne :)

Chase Ray Lasley

I am an aunt again! Woo hoo! On Sunday, August 29th, Dusty called us a 2:30 in the morning to tell us that Megan's water had broke and they were headed to the hospital! Darren and I went back to sleep knowing that this could be a very long processes...no need to head to the hospital just yet. Well, at around 6:00 a.m. we got a text saying the baby should be here around 8:15! Holy Moly...shortest labor EVER!!!!!!!!!! So we got up, got ready, and headed to the hospital in Enid. Chase Ray Lasley made his way into the world on August 29th, 2010 at 10:02 a.m. He weight 7 lbs 10 0z and was 21 inches long! We just love him so much already and think he is a PERFECT new addition to the Lasley clan!
