Bachelorette Party

Well today we were supposed to be heading to Tulsa for the BIG BACHELORETTE PARTY!!!! But, due to the weather (lots of snow), we decided to move it back to OKC! My sister and sweet brides maids all collaborated to get everything together. We decided to get a hotel room downtown and go over to Michael Murphy's piano bar.

Let me just tell you that this day started off a little rough. I HAD NOTHING TO WEAR! The outfit I had picked out just was not doing it for me that day. I thought if I wore my leather jacket with it that I would like it better so Darren took me to SandRidge (where I had left my car because of the weather) to get it. Lo and behold...I can't get inside. So I have a total crying fit in the car (poor Darren) and have to go back and get another outfit option. After this, it was all up hill :)

Berly came and got me and we headed to the hotel. Annie, Jessica, Kenz, Mom, and Candy were all at the hotel getting everything set up. IT WAS SO CUTE! They had everything set up so perfectly! We had pizza, tons of drinks, and darling cookies that looked like this...

Hehehe...they are butts wearing a thong. I literally CRACKED UP when I saw them!

Well after we ate we decided to open gifts. I AM SUCH A LUCKY GIRL! I continues to amaze me how generous my friends and family are...I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!

After we finished up at the hotel we headed to Michael Murphy's. We were going to take the trolley but missed it by 2 minutes! So we walked...in 18 degree weather, with ice on the ground! My friends are troopers!

Michael Murphy's was a blast! We got up and danced and just got to hang out and have a good time. That place is a GREAT spot for a bachelorette party!

My daddy even showed up for a little bit! It was funny because he came from Darren's bachelor party...and we had to get the scoop. Well, all he would tell me was that Darren was having a great time and kept calling my dad RAZZLE DAZZLE! Bahahahaha!

We pretty much shut the bar down at Michael Murphy's then my dad took us back to the hotel. Jessica, Kenz, Heather, Berly, Ashly, Suzanne and I all stayed the night at the hotel. When we got back I demolished an entire bag of bbq chips (thanks Heather!). I was really regretting this the next day. We all just stayed up and talked for a little big and headed off to bed. It was a perfect night! Thank you everyone for making my last weekend as a "free woman" so much fun!

HYDRO!!!!!!

I am not sure if all of you know this but Darren is from a very tiny town called Eakly. It was so small that he graduated with 7 people! This is very different from the 600 I graduated with! Well about 4 or 5 years ago his parents moved to a town near by called Hydro. I absolutely love going there to visit. It is so endearing. The best part is that it is only 45 minutes from Darren's house! Well today one of Darren's very best friends Lori and some of the women at his church hosted us a shower.

Let me just tell you that I was so overwhelmed by the love and generosity that was sent our way at this shower. We started of by going around the room and everyone introduced themselves and said how they knew the bride or groom...easy enough...ya right! Lori was one of the first to go and she automatically had me in tears! She gave a really sweet speech about growing up with Darren and just let me know what a great catch I got. It was so sweet! I love Lori and am so happy that Darren has such wonderful friends that care about him.

Next we went to a table in front of everyone and started opening gifts. We opened gifts for over an hour and a half!!!!!! IT WAS CRAZY! Half way through I though we were surely near the end, then I look over and see another table COVERED with gifts! One gift especially touched me...it was a blanket that Darren's great grandmother had crocheted. His mom wrote a really sweet note about how his Grandma Baskett couldn't be with us but she had prepared something for Darren for when he got married. I OF COARSE START BAWLING!!!!!! It was the most beautiful blanket and the sweetest message.

Today was such a wonderful day. My favorite part was bringing my parents and his parents together. They get along so well and it just makes us both so happy! I have to say it AGAIN even though I know I have said it before; Darren and I are so BLESSED to have such amazing people supporting us! We love you all!

Couples Shower

Saturday night we had our COUPLES SHOWER! My parent's best friends Candy and Richard hosted this for us at their house. IT WAS AMAZING! They served dinner and cocktails for us and I think everyone really had a great time. I am not going to lie though, it was very stressful. When we arrived a lot of our friends were already there. This was the first time that Darren and I had a bunch of our friends all together (we usually hang out with just my friends or just his friends). I think we were both a little frazzled trying to talk to EVERYONE! It was funny because Darren and I weren't even together the first part of the party! We were just trying to make our rounds. It got a little better as the night went on because our groups of friends started to mingle with each other. WE LOVED THIS! All we wanted was for all of our friends to get along, it was perfect! Hopefully everything goes that smoothly at the wedding, we won't want to split up then!

Darren and I can't stop saying how blessed we are. We just can't believe how many people showed up to support us. I think out of the 50 or 60 people we invited only 8 didn't make it! The party was such a success and we can't wait to get to hang out with everyone again at the wedding. I will get the pictures from Darren tonight and upload them!

Getting Ready

So things are finally starting to fall into place. Darren and I are finishing getting the house ready for my big move! Ok, so Darren is really getting the house ready but I try to help a little! Friday when I got off work I went to Darren's to help paint. He and his friend Tim had already painted the Master Bedroom, not an easy feat, and I came to help with the Master Bath. I think Darren realizes that I am not that big of a help, so he asked his mom to come help too! We knocked it out in no time...only about 2 hours! So now the house is completely painted. We have painted every room in the house with exception to the 2 guest rooms (I liked those the way they were).

This morning Darren decided to take the day off from work to do a deep clean! I am so excited about this. I think he must have planned to do this on MLK day because his mom was off. Of coarse she is so sweet she decided to come help! Better her than me! I actually refuse to deep clean what he has accumulated before I was around...I will do the maintenance though!

He is getting it all prepped and ready to move my stuff on Saturday! It is going to be so weird to move out of my parent's house for the last time! I honestly didn't think this whole move through completely though. I am moving this Saturday (2 weeks before the wedding)...where am I going to sleep!?!?! I guess I will have to make friends with the day bed in the guest room.

Wedding update...I AM SO OVER PLANNING! I feel like every time I turn around something is going wrong :( I emailed my wedding coordinator last week about some candles I got to use for the wedding and she told me I can't use them! I was just really upset because I got the idea from a picture I had see of a wedding that was held there! She said she got in trouble for letting that girl do it but would speak with the owner...haven't heard back from her. This has been an on going battle. I ask her questions and she takes FOREVER to get back with me with an answer. FRUSTRATING! But I know it will be perfect no matter what!

HAPPY ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY!

So yesterday was Darren and I's one year anniversary! I can't believe it was only one year ago that I met the love of my life! For all of you who don't know the story of Darren and I we were set up on a blind date. My best friend McKenzie used to work with his best friend Tim at On the Boarder. Well they both have a mutual friend named John. So Tim, John, and McKenzie all schemed to set up this blind date. I don't know if any of you have ever been on a blinde date before, but they are AWFUL. I have only been on one other blind date (no need to go into details), and it ended with me texting a friend telling the to text me something to get me out of it! So, needless to say, I was not too excited to go on this date. But, I had to think if my BEST FRIEND would set me up with this person, it may actually work out!

Well, our first "date" was on Saturday, February 10th, 2009. We met at Starbucks! I was soooo nervous! We met at 2:00 and talked for 3 hours! I guess there is just a lot to talk about when you meet someone for the first time! The entire time I was very nervous but he was just sooo sweet and easy to talk to! After 3 hours I guess Darren got hungry and decided I was worthy of dinner. We headed over to Charleston's to continue our date. We sat there and ate dinner and talked for about an hour longer. After this I think we both decided we were EXHAUSTED and it was time to end our meeting. Darren got my number and we parted ways.

I didn't tell ANYONE about this blind date except for my very closest friend (I didn't even tell my sister!). So after I made my calls to tell everyone about it and inform everyone that this blind date was not a dud at all!

The next day I anxiously awaited my call...NOTHING! I was so disappointed! I thought I would for sure get a call because we hit it off so well! I just told myself that we talked so much on Saturday that maybe he ran out of stuff to talk about and he wanted to wait a few days (such a girl I am to make up excuses!). Well Monday came and I got my call! He said his sister-in-law told him he should wait 3 days to call me but he decided 1 was enough...I would have given up hope after 2!

Well this has been a whirl wind romance in my book! We were at dinner on Friday night and realized that we have basically spent every available second together since we started dating...I LOVE IT! Darren is truly my best friend in the whole wide world. I love him so much and feel so blessed for the last year of my life!

Well since I successfully uploaded Gidget I am on a roll with the posting now! So I asked my mom to send me some pictures from my shower and this is what I ended up with...hopefully I can get the rest of them later. Oh, and I had to get my mom's pictures but I forgot my camera! Who does that?!?

So Excited

I am so excited to spend a very RELAXING night at the house with my fiance! I feel like everything has been so CRAZY lately that we hardly have time to just be lazy together. So here are my plans...When I get off work I am going to go and grab a bottle of wine and rent The Hangover (so funny)and Darren is going to go to the grocery store. We are going to make chicken stir fry and lay on the couch and watch a movie.

Oh ya, we will also be snuggling with Gidget!



I just tried to post a picture of her...we will see where it ends up. I just love that little girl. She is my baby! Darren honestly loves her too he just doesn't like to admit it! I am sure he would love her a lot more if she was potty trained! Oh well, she is only 6 months old...my nephew is 3 and he isn't completely potty trained yet either! I guess they will get it at their own time :)

I can't wiat to start my wonderful weekend. I will let you all know how it goes!

This is not as easy as it looks!

OK, so I don't know if you have noticed, but I am now following my own blog! I don't know how this happened and I can't figure out how to fix it! Waaaaaaa! I have been an avid blog reader for a while now and it just looked so easy...little did I know I was going to have to pull out some IT skills to get this thing running! Oh well, it will all be worth it! Stay tuned...I will try to figure out the picture thing in a little bit :)

I did it!

I finally decided to start a blog. I thought it would be fun to start a blog to capture my life as a newlywed but Also thought it would be fun to blog about the events leading up to the wedding.

Well, the countdown is on...my wedding is in 34 days! Eeeeeeeeek! Seeing that really sends me into a PANIC...so much to do with so little time! I feel like the majority of the big stuff is finished and now I just have to tend to all the small details and tie up the loose ends. And figure out the food situation of coarse. Ok...I know I said I had all of the big stuff done...that is the one BIG thing I have left. And I have to two caterers I am deciding between, which is better than no caterers at all! :)

Well I really feel like the wedding is coming now that all my fun stuff has started! Yesterday I had my very first shower! It was my family/friend shower! It was absolutely perfect, I am so blessed to have such wonderful people in my life. When I get home I will try to figure this blog thing out and upload some pictures.

Update...just talked to my mom...we decided on Johnny Carinos to cater the wedding! It is going to be so yummy...me, mom, dad, and Darren all went and did a tasting last week and we all really liked it. It will be perfect!

Ok I have to go now...I will try to get back on later and put some pictures up!
